My mom found a ranch in Superior, Wisconsin that does trail rides. This place is called the A-1 Ranch. She scheduled three of us, and off we went. I was going to bring my camera but the fact that it had recently rained and the cost of the ride made me a little hesitant to do so. Best idea ever. We get on our horses and let me tell you, I had a blast! There was no head-to-tail single file, there were no ancient horses that forgot how to trot. We rode in a group, we trotted, we cantered, we rode through fields, we jumped creeks. As someone who has ridden horses before, I was positively thrilled. If I had never ridden before, I probably would have been quite intimidated, but what a great way to start out!
The fields were phenomenal, goldenrod and lush greens. There were a few scary moments concerning mud, but that was my own anxiety. Horses know what they’re doing most of the time. They know how they step. It’s the riders anxiety that makes them stutter and question. Have confidence in your horse’s ability and they will be a confident ride.
The ride lasted a little over an hour, and I can safely say it was the best trail ride I have ever been on. The guide was knowledgeable and informative. It didn’t feel as much like a trail ride as it did a ride with friends. I will definitely be going back. Soon.
