I need to work on my portraiture. Surprisingly, the most difficult thing about it for me is the interaction with other people. I feel awkward and unsure. I have all these wonderful plans and as soon as my subjects arrive it all goes out the window. I guess I just need to keep practicing. So, if you like my stuff, volunteer for a photo shoot and when I'm in the area I may just take you up on that!

One of my dear friends got married recently, and I was lucky enough to attend! I drove across the country, but I was there... with my dog.
It was a beautiful ceremony and the decorations were so unique and wonderful! The seating was done by name on mason jars. You just had to locate your name at one of the tables. So, congratulations to Susan and Sudhir! More pictures to come! A couple of my friends are getting married soon. I'm super happy for them. They were kind enough to subject themselves to my camera for a few shots. I've noticed that throughout my life I've surrounded myself by good looking people. Case in point.
I'm working with dual monitors here. I was looking for all the pictures we took in Northern Ireland and I can't find most of them. I just glanced back at this screen and realized I was making the same face as Christina. I think this was my first taste of cadbury chocolate. Not sure.
So, 5 years ago today, we flew from Scotland to Northern Ireland to visit Christina's friends! Super fun! I only took a couple pictures 5 years ago today. This is one of them. From what I remember, after leaving Italy we went back to Edinburgh to stay the night before going to Northern Ireland to visit some of Christina's friends! I think this picture was taken at our hostel.
So many stories, so little time. 5 years ago today, Christina and I were in Rome. We picnicked at the Coliseum, visited the Palatine Hill, and defaced ancient history with orange soda. This was one of our more relaxing days.
The story I wanted to relate to you is not about orange soda, it's about the first time I went to Rome. I was with my friend, Katrina (whom I miss dearly... so far away!) and we were looking to get lunch. We must have wandered around for an hour or two. We circled the Coliseum twice and wandered past Circo Massimo twice before we finally decided on a place that was less than a block from where we started. What better way to see Rome?! 5 years ago today, Christina and I were in the Vatican. We stood in line for a lifetime, but it was worth it. We weren't able to see the Sistine Chapel, but this was the first time seeing the Vatican! Amazing views, a must see!
5 years ago today, we were in Rome. We walked absolutely everywhere! It was so much fun! We saw the Trevi Fountain and some other amazing sights. This was my second time in Rome. Actually, the first time, I threw a coin over my shoulder into the fountain and made a wish. Turns out that the first coin you throw over your shoulder is supposed to ensure your return to Rome. It worked for me! On the second trip, I threw two coins into the fountain and made a wish. Don't remember what I wished for, but it's in my journal somewhere.
I would like to state the cleverness of us with this last picture. We were seated next to a mirror and got the rare shot of both of us together! Awesome, even though we're blurry. 5 years ago today, Christina and I got to wander around and appreciate Venice after an awesome day of recovery!
Since we didn't actually get back to our hostel until 5 am, this is pretty much what we did all day. We laid around reading, chatting and eating sweets. It was a much needed day of rest.
